James W. Gorman

If the beau ideal "Mr. Fiesta" should ever be bestowed on anyone, that person would in all likelihood be James W. Gorman.  His official titles alone span decades and include Commander of the Texas Cavaliers (1972), King Antonio LI (1973) Lord High Chamberlain of the Order of the Alamo (1974 & 1983), President of the FSAC (1975), Charter Member of the Order of the Cascaron (1992) and President of the Order of the Cascaron (1997), all of which he described as his "enjoyable trip" with Fiesta.

Beyond the honorifics, Jim was a tireless Fiesta advocate and volunteer.  By way of example, when he served as President of the Farmer's Market Association he coordinated all of that organization's Fiesta activities and made Market Square the highly popular Fiesta venue it remains today.  Perhaps his greatest legacies, agreed to by all who knew and had opportunities to work with Jim, was his mannered approach to every task whether large or small, and the simple pleasure of his company.   A true gentleman in all of his dealings - professional, civic, and volunteer - Jim set the tone with his signature wit and charm.
